Waterloo

Waterloo is such a cool record store. I had never been to one until I went to go see Dana Falconberry. They had some awesome CD's like all of the Beatles albums, and just some really cool classic rock music. Also there was some really funny toys there like grow your own boyfriend, mini Jesus flashlights, and they had tons of cool posters and paintings. Also, the people there were really cool and funny. I talked to Dana after her show and told her how good she was and I also talked to some old man that was next to me at the concert and he was really nice. For some reason, I expected the concert to be really loud and raging but it was super quite and people weren't talking which was nice because you could actually here the music and the lyrics. Overall, it was a really cool concert, Dana was amazing and sang like an angel, and I am very happy that I got the opportunity to go.

Abbey Road

This album is so good. Words cannot express my love for the Beetles. They never disappoint me ever. My favorite song from this album is most definitely "Come Together" because it is such a happy song and it just makes you want to sing along every time. I mostly like this song a lot because I grew up listening to it and my dad would play it for me in the car and before I went to bed, so it brings back happy memory's of my childhood.

Woodstock

This documentary is so entertaining! At first I was not so sure about it and then the who started playing and it was amazing from there on. When that Joe Cocher (I have no idea how to spell his last name) came on it was so funny. In a way, he kind of scared me though. I am pretty sure he was super stoned. I really wish that I could have been at this festival. It looked like so much fun! Especially when it rained and they all started playing in the mud.

Neon Trees

I have really been into the song "Everybody Talks". This is really surprising because I am not really one to be in to pop rockish type of music. This song is just super upbeat and every time it comes on the radio in the car (which is a lot) my brother and I have a dance party.

Johnny Cash

I absolutely love this man. I have seen the movie I Walk the Line maybe 20 times (not a hyperbole). My  absolute favorite song from the album we listened to in class is "Folson Prison Blues" because it's catchy, I grew up listening to it, and his voice has the most perfect range in this song. Also if you listen to the live version of this song, when he says I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die the prison crowd cheers and I thought that was pretty funny. Me and my uncle were talking about Johnny cash last night after we had that discussion in class and I asked him if he thought that Johnny was country or rock. We came to an establishment that he is a mix of the two and that he should have his own genre of music because his voice is so unique and their is not a person like him.

White Album

This album is the bomb.com! My favorite song from it is Blackbird because it is so mellow and really nice sounding vocally. Also, the song that Ringo wrote was awesome and I honestly don't know why he didn't write more songs than that. Paul and Johns voices are just beautiful in this album (as allways) and I can honestly say I like every song in this alum.

For clarification, I am okay. Thank you for looking out for me. It was really scary for me and I appreciate your Concerns.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps

This song is so good! Johns voice is incredible as always and it is my favorite song of the White Album. It is so cleverly written lyric wise and it is a song that I can calm down to which is what I love most about it. They are so crazy good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3RYvO2X0Oo

The Relief

HOLY CRAP! This band has an incredible amount of swag. Me and Sage were talking about how he was in a band and then i was like how can I hear your music and then this girl showed it to me. I immediatly fell in love with Kieran's voice, and Sage's drumming is so awesome. "The Moon" is my ultimate favorite song of theirs. When Sage and his band become famous one day im just gonna be like haha I knew them before they were cool.

Magical Mystery Tour

It was so great listening to this album in class! It is not my favorite Beatles album, but it is still a good one. My favorite song on this album would hands down have to be "I Am the Walrus" because it is so quirky and catchy and my dad used to play it for me when I was little, so it was my favorite song growing up. Only John can sing these lyrics and it be okay. If anyone else did, people would be like wow are they a crackhead?

Dana Falconberry

Me and Ann went to go see her yesterday (Ann has picture on her blog) and let me tell you that you were absolutely right! She is amazing. All of the voices harmonize beautifully together and there were a lot of instruments, but they all went together perfectly. Also, her voice sounds like an angel! I have no clue as to why she isn't more known around Austin. She definitely deserves it! Thanks for recommending this concert it was absolutely fantastic!

Red Hot Chilli Peppers

I love this band soooo much. Ever since i saw them at ACL, I have a newfound love for them. They are so energetic and the songs that they come out with are just out of this world catchy. My favorite song by them is probably "Californication" because it is such a fun song and it was really fun to listen to live.

Sargeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band

Oh my goodness the Beatles are just pure genious. I could just listen to this album on repeat forever. Paul's voice is just perfect in every way and the instrements flow really well together. Also, the songs are super catchy, especially "With a Little Help From my Friends". Honestly, I cannot say that I have ever been dissapointed with the Beatles and this album is just perfect. End of story.

Ronan

So the other day I was chillin and surfin the internet when I came across this song by Taylor Swift. I thought to myself wow is it possible that I could actually like a T Swift song? This song is lyrically amazing and it had me in tears. It is about someone that she knew that lost the battle to cancer and I can fully relate. My mom died when I was four to breast cancer, so this song means a lot to me mostly because most of these things I remember about my mom. Here are the lyrics and the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fn1MIur2gJ8
I remember your bare feet down the hallway
I remember your little laugh
Race cars on the kitchen floor
Plastic dinosaurs, I love you to the moon and back

I remember your blue eyes looking into mine like we had our own secret club
I remember you dancing before bed time then jumping on me waking me up
I can still feel you hold my hand
Little man, from even that moment I knew
You fought it hard like an army guy
Remember I leaned in and whispered to you

Come on baby with me
We're gonna fly away from here
You were my best four years

I remember the drive home when the blind hope
Turned to crying and screaming, "Why?"
Flowers piled up in the worst way
No one knows what to say about a beautiful boy who died

And it's about to be Halloween
You could be anything you wanted if you were still here
I remember the last day when I kissed your face
I whispered in your ear

Come on baby with me
We're gonna fly away from here
Out of this curtained room in this hospital gray
We'll just disappear
Come on baby with me
We're gonna fly away from here
You were my best four years

What if I'm standing in your closet trying to talk to you?
What if I kept the hand me downs you won't grow into?
And what if I really thought some miracle would see us through?
But what if the miracle was even getting one moment with you

Come on baby with me
We're gonna fly away from here
Come on baby with me
We're gonna fly away from here
You were my best four years

I remember your bare feet down the hallway
I love you to the moon and back

Paint it Black

Pretty much the only time when I like the stones is when they are singing this song. No hate or anything, it is just the only song that I like of their's. It is super catchy and every time my dad plays it in the car we jam out like there is no tomorrow. Also, in a weird way, I love Mick Jagger's voice in this song. Anyways, best song ever written by them and every time I hear it, it makes me think of when me and my siblings used to play Guitar Hero to this song.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Egt1Hq4wpE

Pet Sounds

THIS ALBUM IS TRUELY AMAZING! I have never heard a more inspirational, beautiful, life-changing album in my life. The lyrics are absolutely beautiful and their voices harmonize perfectly together. My favorite song in this album is "God Only Knows" because the voices are beautiful and it is a relatabe song because most everybody has that one person in their life whom they don't know  what they would do without. The other favorite song of mine from this album is "Wouldn't it be Nice" because it is such happy song and it is surfer sounding which I looooveee. Also I think the lyrics:
The happy times together
we've been spending
I wish that every kiss was
never ending
Oh wouldn't it be nice
is beautiful and overall it is just a great song that people just want to dance and sing along to.

This Weeks Discovery

So the first discovery of mine was at ACL. We were in the front row waiting for the Lumineers (the one hit wonder band) to play. There was a band called Bad Books scheduled right before on that stage so we said eh what the hell we got nothing else to see so we can chill here and watch these guys. So they started to play and I was like holy crap I think I just found my new obsession. They are a rock band which is my ultimate favorite kind of music that's a plus. The best way to describe this band is the voice of the guy from Band of Horses mixed with the sound of the Foo Fighters or Pearl Jam. It has Kevin Devine from Kevin Devine, and the Goddamn Band and also the guy from Manchester Orchestra, so the band is a side project. The singers voice is definitely what drew me to this band the most. This is my favorite song by them:

ACL- Friday

Today ACL was AMAZING. When i got there, I went to go see Weezer and it was probably the best show I have ever seen at ACL because I knew every single song and it was so much fun jamming out with my little sis. Then, I saw florence + the machine and they were good depending on your musical preferance. I personally don't like her so it wasn't all that great but I had to go because my sister wanted to. Then, I saw the Black Lips and they were great and high energy. The last show I saw was the Black Keys and they dissapointed me. I thought they were going to play their best songs, but they played boring, slow songs that you couldn't even dance to. They did however play Everlasting Light and that pretty much the only good part (that I saw at least). I only saw 4 bands and your probably thinking to yourself what the heck why so little? Well, I did that rock and recycle program where they give you this HUGE bag and if you fill it all the way with recycleables, you get a free ACL T-Shirt. So let me tell you my experiance with that crap. So I walked in the entrace and I saw the bags so I was like what the hell why not, right? Turns out it was not worth all that effort at all. I was being thrown cans at, digging through trashes, and having to carry that heavy ass bag around all day and I took a shower and still stink of a combination of beer, weed, and dumpster. 3 times I came back to the stand to give in my bag to get my free shirt and they kept telling me it wasn't full enough allthough it was like seriously 45 pounds. So I learned my lesson never to do that again, but I did get the shirt so it paid off a little. But as far as bands go, Weezer was the bomb diggity and they honestly should have been the main band for Friday.

Bob Dylan

I don't care what anybody says, Bob Dylan is the bomb.com. I love everything about his music. His voice is so cool and different, and it is sort of soothing in some awkward way. He is a lyrical freaking genius, for example "The Times They Are a Changin" like seriously who can come up with more of a genius song that has a deeper meaning than that one? I did a anti-racism video using that song for a world history project last year because it was basically the Civil Rights anthem. It was a pretty great video (not gonna lie) here it is if you want to watch it:

Normally, I am a melody type of person and I don't even pay attention to lyrics, but Bob Dylan just takes it to a whole new level and makes me actually listen to what he is saying because usually he is telling some sort of story or getting some message across. The last thing I love about him is his care-free personality. He is a lot like me in that way and he doesn't give a rats ass about what people think of him or his music. As long as he likes it, he is happy and that is what it all comes down to in the end.

Hungarian Rhapsody

A couple weeks ago I went to go see The Queen Movie Hungarian Rhapsody. It was only in theaters for one day so if you are a Queen fan and you didn't get to see it, you missed out big time. So basically, the beginning of the movie was about 5 minutes of just interviewing the band members and let me tell you, Freddy was hilarious! After the interviewing, the movie started and it was all the footage of the whole entire concert for when they went to Hungary. It was just like being at a Queen concert because you could sing along and jam out hardcore. IT WAS AMAZING! My only beef about it was that they didn't sing the more mainstream Queen songs like "Killer Queen" "Fat Bottom Girls" or "Don't stop me now", you know, the ones everybody loves. It was kind of a bummer but they did play some really great songs too. Freddy also did this really cool thing were he made a song and translated it into Hungarian for the Hungarians. They obviously went crazy over it. Freddy is such a genius. Well that is what the movie was like and if you didn't see it, well then that just kind of sucks.

"You've Got to Hide Your Love Away"

I love this song From the Beatles album "Help" because it is so catchy which is the ultimate thing I look for in a song. Also I love the Bob Dylan feel to it. I think John Lennon rocks the Bob Dylan voice/sound better than Bob Dylan himself, but that's just my opinion. I like how there is no drum in this song just the tambourine and the guitar which is nice because it gives off a more relaxing vibe.

Sumblime

I love this band this band so much because their songs make me laugh and I like their sound because it is a mix of rock and reggae which is super unique. My favorite song they sing is "Santeria" because it is super fun and also I like his voice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTCyZvb2Uzw

The Beatles for Sale

I did not really like this album and its not one of my favorites because I didn't really know any of the songs and the sound really was not all that great. But is was still better than the Rolling Stones :) The songs really weren't all that catchy and it is probably one of the worst Beatles albums written. But I love them still.

QUEEN!

Lately I have been listening to tons of Queen, especially the songs "Don't Stop Me Now" and "Good Old Fashioned Loverboy". They are great songs and so catchy that they will get stuck in your head for weeks and wont stop. Freddy Mercury is my favorite singer in the whole world because he has amazing range and i love the sound of his voice. He also is a lyrical genius and i don't see how anyone could ever hate this band. If you haven't heard the songs, well you need to listen to them NOW.

The Beetles Vs. The Stones

The Beetles are the one of the greatest bands ever in my opinion so how dare someone even compare the Rolling Stones to them? The Beetles Album "A Hard Days Night" is fun, has great melody, and some of the best song that they ever wrote. the Rolling Stones album "England's Newest Hit Takers" is pretty much shit. Its out of tune, Its dull and boring, it has no melody, it has bad vocals, and its not even catchy. I believe that the first song in an album should be the best one so that it gets you hooked and makes you want to listen more, and when I heard this albums first song I already knew that i wasn't going to like it. The Beetles wrote a better album then them when they were tired and thought they where going to get a break. Overall, The Stones album sucks and the Beetle's album rocks. End of story.

Jack Johnson

Right now I am loving Jack Johnson's song "You and Your Heart". This song is awesome because it is so chill and calming, and who doesn't want to take a break from hard rock and listen to something a little more mellow every once in a while? I know I do. I like his voice, although it doesn't have much range, it is just soothing to me sometimes. He is also the coolest guy ever and I can just Imagine him on the beach with a guitar singing and getting all of the ladies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWVnZAJaq4Q

Beetles Documentary

I thought this movie was really good and I had my eyes glued to the screen. I thought it was super awesome that they had a black cop in New York for the time being as well. My only complaint about it was that you couldn't really make out what they were saying but the amazing songs made up for it. I almost freaked out when Paul McCartney sang "Till There Was You" because I love that song. Also, I have the biggest fan girl crush on Paul McCartney but then again who doesn't? Also John Lennon is really funny and sarcastic and I laughed so hard when he called that one guy a wanker, and made fun of the audience when doing that retard move. The crowd was over the top and it made my ears bleed, but if I got to see The Beetles in person, I mean get real I would do the same thing too. Also, I would probably piss all over myself, no shame.

This Weeks Song

This week I am thoroughly enjoying the song "Buddy Holly" by Weezer. I love the band and when I first heard this song a while ago I fell in love with it. It is a super chill song and it has a happy feel to it. I like to listen to this song when I am sad because it instantly cheers me up. It is a carefree song and it has some great electric guitar in it. I thought for this weeks two blogs I would go for a Buddy Holly theme because I am obsessed with his music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kjr7US2Z9aY

Buddy Holly

I really like Buddy Holly's song "That'll be the day". I like this song because I love his voice and the song is really catchy in itself. After about the first time I listened to this song I knew the lyrics and I like when that happens because it leaves a good impression on you and you will want to come back to it and listen more and more. I also like the guitar parts in this song because it is a type of electric guitar that you can only find in old time rock songs. Overall it is a great song and it will be stuck in my head for a few days.

What i'm listening to this week

This week i am enjoying Band of Horses' song "Laredo" because it is kind of mellow and calms me down after a long, stressful day at school. I really like the electric guitar at the begging and towards the end as well. His voice is sort of soothing to me, and you should check this song out if you are looking for more of a chilled out type of modern rock.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfGSqUmcqDk

Jerry Lee Lewis

I like Jerry Lee Lewis' song Great Balls of Fire because its got great energy and it is a song that I actually enjoy where the focus instrument is on the piano. You cannot find any modern rock songs that involve the piano as much as this song does. I also like the sound of his voice when he sings really high because its entertaining and it gives off a different feel than most rock songs.
